Topics in CIS TCP/IP CISCO Routers
3 credits; 4 hours

Learn why networks are important and why networks are tied to your future. Learn the hardware and software components of a network. Learn the basic concepts of network design (LAN Local Area Network as well as WAN Wide Area Network). Design and build your own WAN. Learn how to configure a CISCO router for a WAN environment. Learn how to trouble-shoot networks using the PING, TRACE and DEBUG commands. Learn how to configure an IBM-compartible workstation for TCP/IP communication on a network. Learn the data flow concepts of TCP/IP. Learn IP classes A,B,and C. Learn how to Subnet these classes of IP addresses. Learn how to use VLSM (Variable Lenght Subnet Mask). Learn routing protocols such as RIP,OSPF,IGRP,EIGRP. Finally, bring this all together by applying what you have learned in class by building networks in a hands on Lab.
